CUSTOM CAKES

 

Role: Baker, Cake Decorator, Consultant

I started making cakes when I turned 16, using cake making to practice 3D spatial analysis and sculpting. Helping realize people's visions was delightful, and seeing how cakes brought people together was even more so. This became my side hustle through high school and is what eventually opened the doors to my professional career in the food industry as a baker, line cook, an now, food product developer.

During college, I helped co-run Sweet & Shiny Bakery in Brooklyn, New York, which was a Brooklyn Top 5 custom bake shop before the owner moved away and sold the business.

 

I still make cakes today, but as my food philosophy has shifted, I've adopted a value for more natural colors and healthful ingredients.
